Driverless Car Tested by the Public for the First Time in the UK

Challenge
PA Media was commissioned to produce an editorial video package and B-Roll to support Catapult’s self-driving pods being trialled in a pedestrian area for the first time. Our aim was to secure broadcasters to attend the launch, as well as achieve coverage across online outlets.
Solution
Our proactive online sell-in commenced the day before the launch, ensuring that key contacts were aware of the upcoming content. Initial interest from contacts was very positive and it was extremely useful to have part of the B-Roll available the evening before.
Results
A wide range of online coverage was secured across national media owners, resulting in the edited video and B-Roll appearing on 26 sites.
Our highest profile hits were the Mail Online, Mirror, Sun, PA, Reuters, ITN and the Guardian.
We secured coverage with the PA video wire who ran the B-Roll as well as their own edit. As a result of their distribution we were able to achieve hits on AOL, BT, Yahoo, the Belfast Telegraph and MSN.
